Coach Jo was a scholarship athlete and linebacker at San Diego State where he was awarded with All American honors, recognized as a Mountain West Conference Player of the week, and nominated team MVP during his college career (1997-2002).   Later, he pursued his passion for sports and working with youth and in addition to training, now coaches AAU youth basketball year round.  Jo is also a basketball official for the MCAL.  He resides in Marin with his wife, and three sons.
